The inaugural session of a symposium on emerging technologies that will have a significant impact on the biomanufacturing industry in the near term.
Organized by the Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the two-day Advanced Industrial Biomanufacturing Symposium will bring together industry and academic leaders to focus on new technologies, process developments and research findings.
Topics to be covered include:
- Perfusion and continuous processing
- Animal cell culture processes
- New developments in process analytics
- Stem cells as a platform technology
- Novel plant-based expression systems
- Risk management for biomanufacturing
- Alternatives for filtration and chromatography
- Design of experiments and data management
Keynote and Plenary Speakers
Gregg Nyberg, Director of Process Development at Amgen’s Pivotal Cell Sciences & Technology organization will deliver a plenary presentation titled “The Shrinking Footprint- Next Generation Technologies in Biomanufacturing”
Chun Zhang, Vice President and Head of BioProcess Development at Shire will deliver a keynote presentation titled “Biomanufacturing Innovations for the 21st Century: New Platform, New Challenges and New Opportunities”
Parrish Galliher, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Xcellerex, Inc., now a division of GE Healthcare Life Sciences, will deliver a keynote presentation titled “The Era of Bioprocess Innovation – Transformations in Cost, Quality and Speed”
Ralph Lambalot, Vice President of Biologics Development & Manufacturing Launch at AbbVie will deliver a plenary presentation titled “Sustaining a Consistent Quality Profile Across Multiple Scales And Manufacturing Sites”
