About our Sponsor

Our project is sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, or MassDEP for short. The MassDEP is one of the Commonwealth’s Energy and Environmental Agencies. Its mission is “[to ensure]  clean air and water, the safe management of toxics and hazards, the recycling of solid and hazardous wastes, the timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources.”

We will be working specifically with the MassDEP’s Drinking Water Program. Our project liaisons are Ann Lowery and Kathleen Romero. Ann is the Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau of Resource Protection. Kathy works as a member of the Drinking Water Program. We will also be working from closely with Yvette DePeiza, the Drinking Water Program’s Director and Mike Celona, Senior Environmental Analyst in the Environmental Toxicology Program under the Department of Public Health.
