Project Overview

 Chelsea, MA is a waterfront city directly outside of Boston that is dominated by industry. Chelsea is a Designated Port Area which limits facilities along the river to only water dependent uses that require marine transport or access to large amount of water for intake or discharge. This limits the opportunities of residents along the waterfront and many residents can not interact with the waterfront in any way. Our Sponsor, GreenRoots, Inc. wants to develop public use along the waterfront and increase access to the Chelsea River for all residents of Chelsea. Our Project sought to investigate best practices of promoting public use on the Chelsea waterfront in ways that include many disadvantaged residents of the city.
