About our Sponsor

Founded in 1983 by two lawyers named Charlie Lord and Bill Shutkin, Alternatives for Community and Environment (ACE) is an Environmental Justice and Advocacy organization located in Roxbury, MA. Their mission lies in building “power of communities of color and low-income communities in Massachusetts to eradicate environmental racism and classism, create healthy, sustainable communities, and achieve environmental justice”. Recently, ACE has successfully advocated for an MBTA Youth Pass, a reduced price monthly pass for individuals ages 12-25. ACE and its partners have also successfully pushed Massachusetts to enact its first Environmental Justice Policy in October 2002.
