Projects

These pages comprise the project reporting for all student projects conducted between 2007 and 2015. Projects can be browsed by year to see the work undertaken annually by 6 to 8 teams. The project websites represent an experiment in reporting strategies that evolved over the 9 years. Whereas the typical WPI Interactive Qualifying Project report is a two dimensional, linear written report, reporting here via the web is a more complex, three dimensional space that readers can navigate in many different ways, traveling via cross-linking and multi-media to have divergent viewer/learning experiences. Students and advisors learned about how to create effective websites by experimenting over the years with different strategies. Thus, the project websites vary a bit in structure and style, and the site as a whole is sometimes harder to navigate than we’d like.

Almost all project sites, however, contain core elements of an IQP report (Introduction, Background, Methods, Results, Analysis, Recommendations, References, etc.), but often labeled with other names and distributed throughout different sections, reflecting the Shared Action Learning nature of CTPC projects in which, for example, collaborative Methods or Planning processes are often also core project “Outcomes.” And in later years, each team posted “Acts and Scenes” as a process narrative describing critical events, conundrums, challenges, and insights that informed the project as it unfolded. The project websites are thus a record of student learning and collaborative accomplishments with local partners, and a repository of potential resources for others.

For readers interested in a more efficient means of navigating to resources of potential utility on themes, such as water and sanitation or early childhood development, please see the Resource Library pages.
