Brace Yourselves, Major Declaration Deadline is Next Term

Filed in Life at WPI by on October 10, 2014

Hello Everyone!

That’s right, next term is the major declaration deadline for Freshmen. It can be a very stressful time, especially if you are undecided about your major, or you aren’t sure what you are actually interested in. Don’t worry, you aren’t alone: https://vine.co/v/ht9gg52jdP3

I need help choosing my major, can anyone help me?

Of course we can. The WPI Career Development Center offers a class called Discovering Majors and Careers (FY 1800) and it can help you find your interests and choose a major. It is offered twice a term during B and C term and you can also receive 1/12 credit for the class.

If you would like to learn more about FY 1800 or you are in the mood to watch a fun, silly video – click Discovering Majors and Careers.

Discovering Majors & Careers

Here is the description of the course:

This course is open to all students who are undecided about or are thinking about changing their academic major. It is offered in B and C terms. Students will conduct a self assessment utilizing career assessment tools, research majors of interest and career paths, attend academic department presentations/major panels, participate in informational interviews, job shadowing and/or company tours. Students will meet individually with Peer Advisors and/or a CDC staff member at least three times throughout the course.

FY 1800 is a fantastic class because, not only do you get to learn about different majors at WPI, but you also find your interests, meet with alumni, and learn about the various resources available through the CDC.

I am one of the Peer Advisors who will be helping out with the class! I am very excited and if you decide to take this class, I look forward to meeting with you!!

Thanks for reading and make sure to check out Gianna’s blog as well!

Until next week,

Omesh Kamat
