NOTES ON COMPETITION FLOW

  • Any team who passes Pre-Inspection will be eligible to sign up for designated times for Challenge Attempts
    • You may not sign up unless a judge has verified you have passed the Pre-Inspection
    • You may only sign up for one time within a designated block (exactly the size of this block will be determined once teams are on-site and based on the number of people currently passed Pre-Inspection).  At a minimum, we should be able to accommodate one sign up per day per team.
    • Outside of the one signup per block, teams may fill any remaining open time on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Teams will be queued in the pit for this space, and dispatched to an open field when it is available.
  • When you sign up for a Challenge Attempt, you will sign up for a ONE-HOUR BLOCK on one of the Competition fields
    • During this one-hour block, your team may make as many attempts at the challenge as you are able.
      • For example, you place your robot on the platform, indicated to the judge you are ready, and they start the run.  About 5 minutes in, you realize your arm motor is unplugged and it won’t be able to move to collect the sample.  You can ask the judge to terminate the run, go plug in the motor, reset the robot, and then start a second attempt (with the clock reset to zero).
    • Teams are free to make any changes they wish in between challenge attempts
  • Pre-Inspection Ends on Thursday evening.  This is done to ensure each team can be provided two attempts at Level 1, as guaranteed in the rules.  We will be block time on Friday solely for teams who have not had the opportunity to complete two attempts, and randomly schedule those teams for their time.  If the team is not ready or does not show up for that scheduled time, it will still be consider as an opportunity/attempt.
