We’ve posted the current 2012 Competitor Schedule here on the site. You will find very little has changed from the schedule sent to you on 4/9/2012, but more detail has been added.
More information on the processes of impound and moving to the field will be discussed at the Friday morning team meeting. If you have any other questions on the schedule or how things will be happening, send an email to email@example.com so we can make sure it gets addressed.
If you didn’t know, Saturday will be a big and busy day on campus. Alongside the competition, WPI is hosting a large science, technology, and robotics festival called Touch Tomorrow. It is free, open to the public, and will feature some amazing exhibits from NASA, a showcase by WPI students and faculty of their great work, and interactive displays by local museums and club (not to mention a street fair of space-themed foods like Tang and moon pies).
One of the many benefits of having this wonderful festival in conjunction with the Challenge is there is an even greater opportunity for media and VIP attendance at our event. Especially on Saturday, there will be lots of opportunity to share your story with folks worth knowing, and we want you to take full advantage of this.
We do hope you will find a little time during Saturday to enjoy the festival as well, but I also want you to know that you as competitors are our top priority. Don’t let the hundreds (or maybe thousands) of folks around campus concern you, there is a dedicated group of Sample Return Robot Challenge staff that are focused solely on providing you with the best and most fair competition experience they can! We appreciate the blood, sweat, and tears (and money) you have put into this effort, and want you to do your best.
On that note, know that meals are being provided during your time here based on the numbers you provided in the google sign-up form. We know you are crunched for time and do not know the area well, so the food (and a place to eat) will be made available in the pit or viewing area. If any of that has changed in your head count for any particular meal or you’ve learned of a dietary restriction of someone on your team, please let me know so I can make sure we take care everyone by having the right amount of food and something everyone can eat!
Besides that, we have some access to tools, including a machine shop, in the event a part breaks and needs repair (it is not intended for last minute, full manufacturing). We also have information to let you know where everything is (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Radio Shack, etc).
Once you get here, if you need something, just ask us and we will do everything we can to help. We look forward to meeting you all in person and seeing your robots in action.
