Prof. Robert Connors Named to “2011 Irish Education 100″

Prof. Robert E. Connors was named to the "2011 Irish Education 100" by the Irish Voice newspaper. The annual list honors leading educators of Irish descent.

Robert E. Connors, professor and associate department head in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry,was named to the “2011 Irish Education 100″ by the Irish Voice newspaper. The annual list honors leading educators of Irish descent.

He received the award during a ceremony at the home of the Irish Consulate General in New York in December.

His research centers on the spectroscopy and photophysics of organic and inorganic systems. Connors joined WPI as an assistant professor in 1976. He was the Leonard P. Kinnicut Assistant Professor from 1977 to 1980. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Sigma Xi.

Connors earned a BS from UMass-Amherst, and a Ph.D. from Northeastern University. Married with two children, Connors’ grandparents were natives of County Cork, Ireland.
