“Women in Science” Students Think Green

One of the main goals of the Women in Science program is for girls to be mentored by positive role models and women who work in the science fields, such as physicians and WPI professors. Participants are also exposed to new methods of thinking, and explore the role of science in everyday life.

Former Astronaut Bernard Harris Encourages WPI Campers to Let Their Geek Flags Fly

On July 28, students participating in the Exxon Mobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp at WPI were treated to a visit from the former astronaut himself. During the camp’s media day, he answered questions from students in the audience about his voyages to space and experience as an astronaut.

Mary Kate Toomey, ’08, recalls experiences at Camp Reach

Toomey shared her Camp Reach experience, and the rewarding aspects of her current work at Jacobs Engineering Group, related to airport runways. She encouraged them to work hard in math and science, to continue building their communication skills, and especially, to appreciate the teamwork skills they were developing at Camp Reach.
