WPI places third at regional cyber security competition

WPI’s cybersecurity defense team placed third in the final round of the Northeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. RIT and Champlain placed first and second, respectively. WPI defeated teams from Alfred State U., U. Buffalo, U. Maine, U. New Hampshire, Northeastern U., Pace U., Stevens Institute of Technology, SUNY Institute of Technology, Syracuse U., UMass Boston, UMass Lowell, and the US Military Academy in West Point.

The WPI team was captained by Doran Smestad (CS) and included Josh Graff (RBE), Josh Hebert (CS), Matthew Heon (CS), Ivan Melnikov (CS, Math), Dolan Murvihill (CS), Ian Naval (CS), and Henrique Polido (CS, Math).
