Happy spring recruiting season! There is a tremendous amount of activity on the WPI campus as we continue on in D-Term. The Career Development Center has just finalized our Class of 2014 Post-Graduation Report with strong results for our new alumni, and we also reached a new registration record for our Life Sciences & Bioengineering Career Fair.

The Post-Graduation Report for the Class of 2014 takes a full year to produce from surveys, to research, to analysis. This year’s report provides an 89.9% “known rate” of our graduates with an overall “success rate” of 90.4% within six months of graduation. Additionally, our undergraduate average salary was reported at $62,509, nearly 31% higher than the national 2014 average of $47,733 as reported by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). For expanded major-by-major results, a list of employers by major, and additional information, read the full report.

A valuable driver to these outcomes are the three career fairs that the CDC conducts each year. Our last fair for the academic year was the Life Sciences & Bioengineering Career Fair. This event took place on March 26, and we saw  tremendous value for students and employers to network and find best-fitting opportunities and candidates. We reached 31 active company registrations, which is a new record for the office and speaks to the value of WPI students and the skills that they offer the life sciences industries.

Another valuable research tool that the CDC has used to make informed decisions is data from the Universum student surveys regarding career preparation and company preferences. The WPI CDC has participated in the data set for its second time in 2015. There are some powerful insights that may help drive your business decisions. For example, did you know that the Career Fair is rated by students as the most important service that our office offers? This is why WPI career fairs, like the March 26th Life Sciences & Bioengineering Career Fair, are so valuable to employers. If you are interested, some highlights of the Universum data about WPI students will be available this summer from the CDC.
