Haynes, class of 1881, invented a gasoline-powered horseless carriage in 1894 and founded Haynes Automobile Company. He was inducted last week into the Kokomo, Indiana Hall of Legends. Also a metallurgist, in 1911 he discovered a type of stainless steel and patented it in 1919. More
