Winter Break and the beginning of C Term have brought a flurry of construction work to Gordon Library’s Level G!

To make way for the installation of a dedicated HVAC system for the Archives and Special Collections area, Library and Facilities staff and contractors have been hard at work relocating fragile collections out of harm’s way, moving walls and doors, cutting and hauling away lots of concrete, running new duct work, re-routing power lines, redefining staff and student work spaces, consolidating storage spaces, and generally making a lot of noise and dust!

When all is the work is done – and combined with last summer’s collections storage improvements – we will have an archival space that will keep WPI’s historical objects, documents, images, media, art work, and rare books safe and sound from damaging temperature and humidity fluctuations.
