Portrait of Charles DickensJohanna T. Thomas  has been chosen the winner of the 2014 Robert Fellman Memorial Scholarship Prize for her essay  ”John and Ruth: A Match Made in Heaven”. The essay examines Dickens’s exploration of romantic relationships in Martin Chuzzlewit.   One reviewer said that Ms. Thomas  “shows an excellent knowledge of Martin Chuzzlewit, and provides good evidence to support her thesis!”

Ms. Thomas has been invited to present the essay at the April meeting of the Worcester chapter of the Charles Dickens Fellowship, and will receive a cash prize of $100.

Preservation is not just delicious jams and jellies. It's about caring for the Library's collections, so they are available for current and future scholars. In addition to bookbinding, my obsessions include music of most kinds and ballet.
