In and Around the Library

The Gordon Library is pleased to partner once again with WPI’s Community Service Center and the Worcester Public Schools in the Worcester:  the City that Reads book drive.  This program seeks to promote literacy and collect books for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade children who may have few books in their homes.   According to the National Summer Learning Association of Johns Hopkins University:

“.. Research shows that without practice, students lose reading skills over the summer months and children from low-income families lose the most. With the prevalence of television, computers and other electronic distractions, how can parents, educators and librarians encourage kids to immerse their minds and imaginations in books over the summer months?”

Please donate books in the Gordon Library, the Campus Center Lobby (10 am to 3 pm) or the Community Service Center (3rd floor of the Campus Center).  Books will be collected from February 24 thru March 28th.

Let’s make a difference!
Thank you for your support!
