Academic Video on Demands streams clips and full-length films.

Starting April 9, 2014, all members of the WPI community will have access to two new academic streaming video collections as the Gordon Library continues hosting of free trials for these services.

Intelecom’s Academic Video on Demand  includes over 4,000 video clips or complete films covering 35 subject areas.  Playlists can be created and tagged, clips can easily be annotated, and links can be embedded into course sites.

Docuseek2 currently streams over 455 titles addressing a wide range of subjects from producers such as Bullfrog Films and Icarus Films.  The collection is strong in anthropology, the environment, urban studies, the global economy and American Studies.  Custom clips can be made, links embedded, and the transcripts are searchable.

The trials run through the end of D Term.  We hope you have a chance to try out these services and compare them with the Films On Demand and Academic Street Press trials that are just ending – and please give us your feedback for any of the collections.

As the Collections Assessment and Development Librarian, I try to make sure that the library has the resources needed to serve the entire WPI community. I've been with the Gordon Library since January 2014.
