Blackboard 9.1 Feature Spotlight: Test Exceptions

The latest version of Blackboard 9.1 introduces a long sought after feature – Test Exceptions! Have a student who needs extra time? Would you like to control the way feedback is displayed in a granular fashion? Well now you can all on one screen!

When deploying a test you will now have access to two new areas on the Test Options page: Test Availability Exceptions and Show Test Results and Feedback to Students.

Test Availability Exceptions

This new setting allows you to make accommodations regarding test deployment to individuals or groups of students.

You can create exceptions for:

  • Number of attempts
  • Time of test
  • Auto submit on or off
  • Availability of test using start and end dates
  • Force completion on or off

Show Test Results and Feedback to Students

This new setting allows you to specify with granularity the timing and type of feedback students receive on tests.

You can choose the types of feedback displayed as well as establishing when they are displayed.  The display timing options include:

  • After Submission
  • One-time View
  • On Specific Date
  • After Due Date
  • After Availability and End Date
  • After Attempts are Graded
