“MassDEP ensures clean air, land and water. We oversee the safe management and recycling of solid and hazardous wastes. We ensure the timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills. And we work to preserve the state’s wetlands and coastal resources.” – Mass.gov
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s (MassDEP) goal is to assist landowners in assessing and remediating the environmental contamination present on their land. The goal is tied to the Clean Energy Results Program (CERP) which was created to promote clean and efficient energy usage through waste site remediation processes. One of the first steps MassDEP is taking to achieve this goal, which is within our project scope, is to convince or incentivize Licensed Site Professionals (LSPs) and Project Managers to apply renewable energy and energy efficient techniques to waste site remediation systems. For renewable energy, MassDEP has been focusing explicitly on solar power as a means of reducing power usage and reducing the costs of running GWR systems.
