A few of my favorite things at the ATX East Conference
This summer, robots took over New York City!
Don’t panic! I’m talking about an awesome conference I had the chance to attend in June: ATX East. This event drew robotics and automation experts from all over the country, with over 900 exhibits and 11,000 industry professionals. It was great to learn more about innovations in the field of robotics engineering and to meet and mingle with some seriously brilliant minds.
There was so much to see and do, but here are my Top 3 moments from the ATX East conference:
1. Collaborative robots: ever heard of them? This innovation gives anyone on the manufacturing floor the ability to program a robot similar to the way you would train a new human employee. The worker simply shows the robot the path it should take to pick up materials or do other tasks using human touch to guide it.
2. Seeing and meeting so many WPI alumni who are doing great things. It’s so interesting to learn where their lives have taken them since graduating. I got to know graduates who now work in medical devices, automation to adhesives, manufacturing, plastics, and even for the government. How inspiring that WPI helped them get where they are today!
3. Meeting lifelong learners in the robotics & automation industries. I love meeting people who are hungry for knowledge and motivated to take their career to the next level. Representing WPI Corporate & Professional Education connects me with all kinds of working professionals looking to advance, and ATX East was no exception. My favorite quote from a prospective student: “At other schools you learn theory, but at WPI you’ll walk away with the ability to actually build something.” Couldn’t have said it any better myself!
All in all, ATX East was a truly fascinating conference. I learned tons about the industry and met lots of great minds who are changing the world of robotics and automation. See you next year!
