A look back: WPI’s 2014 Energy Symposium

This fall, WPI will bring power-industry professionals to campus for the sixth annual Energy Symposium. We are exploring the past years of this important event as the big day approaches. Today, we highlight 2014’s summit.


Wind turbines farmFor the fourth year in a row, energy experts came to WPI to discuss the future of the power industry. The main topic was the increasing need for efficient, clean energy and well-trained engineers to fulfill this demand.

WPI was thrilled to welcome Cheryl LaFleur, Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, who delivered a keynote address on the evolution of the energy economy: its challenges and its opportunities. There were also panels and presentations related to WPI’s role in developing talent for the energy industry by way of its undergraduate and graduate students, including the engagement of working professionals.
