Dress to Achieve!

Filed in From the Staff by on April 4, 2015

Hey Everyone,

I hope all of you are having a fantastic D term so far! I cannot believe that we are already done with 3 weeks, meaning almost done with half of the final term for this school year.

Today, I wanted to remind you about the basics, which is your professional wardrobe for anything related to careers. This could be anything from how to dress for a company information session, career fair, or a full day on-site interview. Remember that all of these situations are semi-formal to formal, meaning that a first impression will be very important. You don’t want to distract the employer with your appearance when what really matters is YOU!

Here is a link that is very helpful for college students like ourselves for dressing to be successful: http://www.symsdress.com/index.htm. This site talks about business casual, and interview outfits for both men and women.

A few important questions that usually come up from students:

1] When should I wear business casual?

You should wear business casual to company information sessions and to any time of networking events.

2] When should I wear business formal?

You should wear business formal/profession, which means a suit, to career fairs, and during on-campus and on-site interviews.

3] What if I don’t have a suit?

Wear the most professional clothing that you own. This means that if you don’t have a suit, then wear business casual as the next best. Just because you don’t have the specific type of clothing, it shouldn’t deter you from going to the actual event!

Thank you for reading, check out the website above, and if you want to know more about interviews, check out Gianna’s blog!
