Combustion Research Laboratory

The Combustion Research Laboratory (CRL) is used for fundamental research and educational activities in laminar as well as turbulent reacting flows of relevance to aerospace propulsion and power generation. CRL is equipped with high pressure combustion facilities, high speed imaging, and laser based diagnostics.

Our research is geared towards understanding fundamental combustion phenomena relevant to sustainable energy utilization, safety, and emerging propulsion concepts. We have adopted a strategy that is biased towards probing physical processes, thermodynamic conditions, and fuels that are relatively unexplored. This increases the possibility of serendipitous findings that could have far reaching implications.
