The CDC Switched to Handshake

The WPI Career Development Center (CDC) is happy to announce that we switched to Handshake as our main career services management tool. We have been using Job Finder as our job posting and recruitment management platform but made the switch to Handshake on July 1. Handshake is a powerful, modern platform that enables employers to search for and manage relationships with top talent at universities across the country. Through your WPI Handshake account, you will be able to post jobs, schedule interviews, collect resumes, and register for events. To learn more about the platform and how to create an account, check out the Recruiter’s Toolbox section of this newsletter.

Career Fair – September 21

Registration for WPI’s Fall Career Fair is now open. The event on Wednesday, September 21, from 12 to 4pm in our Sports & Recreation Center, is open to students and alumni of all degrees and disciplines and is ideal for employers looking to fill full-time, internship, and co-op positions. We are expecting to host nearly 200 companies and over 2,500 students/alumni. This is a wonderful opportunity to recruit key talent and increase your organization’s visibility on campus. Please note that space is limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis. The registration deadline is September 14 at 5pm.

NOTE: You may request electrical outlets for your booth through your registration form and purchase preferred table placement (limited availability).

TO REGISTER: Once you have logged into Handshake, choose Fairs under the Campus column, and then type Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the search bar. Choose the 2016 Fall Career Fair link to register. You will receive a confirmation email, including an invoice or receipt, after your registration is approved.

OCI Day – September 22

WPI will be hosting an On-Campus Interview Day in the Rubin Campus Center Odeum on Thursday, September 22. Participating employers should plan to create their own schedules of students from the career fair held the day prior. You will receive an email confirmation within 1-2 business days and additional logistics about a week before the event. This event is open to all employers participating in our Fall Career Fair. There is no charge for on-campus interviews. Sign-up through your Career Fair registration or call 508-831-5260.

Resumazing – September 15

Are you interested in interacting with students prior to the Career Fair? Consider participating in Resumazing on September 15. Resumazing is an educational program in which company volunteers come to campus to critique student resumes to help them prepare for the Fall Career Fair. We ask for a 2-hour commitment between 12 and 6pm, during which you will meet a wide variety of WPI students. If you are interested in participating or learning more, email employer@wpi.edu or call 508-831-5260.

Co-op Networking Night – November 16

The CDC will be hosting a networking night focused on cooperative education on November 10 at WPI. Students from all majors and backgrounds will be looking to learn about the benefits of co-op. We encourage you to attend the event to discuss co-op opportunities at your company and learn more about the co-op program at WPI while enjoying some light refreshments. If you are interested in participating or learning more, email employer@wpi.edu or call 508-831-5260.
