Q:  If I have taken courses at another school, can those credits be transferred to the WPI?

A:   A student may petition to use graduate courses completed at other accredited, degree- granting institutions to satisfy WPI graduate degree requirements. A maximum of one-third of the credit requirements for a graduate degree may be satisfied by courses taken elsewhere and not used to satisfy degree requirements at other institutions. Each credit transfer request is reviewed by the respective academic department at WPI to verify academic standards, relevance of the course content, and adherence to all transfer guidelines stated in the WPI Graduate Catalog. The transfer credit process can be initiated after a student receives his/her admissions decision.

Q:  Are there any fees associated with enrolling? Or registering? – for the program through Eversource Energy:

A:   The graduate application fee ($70) is waived by our office for all Eversource Energy employees applying for this program.

If you would like to obtain a student ID (not required), there is a $15.00 charge (ID’s are useful for student discounts).

There are no additional fees associated with the program above and beyond tuition and course materials (books/software/etc.).

Q:  What is the tuition?

A:  WPI’s tuition for the academic year is $4,830 per 3 credit course. Cohort participants are fully funded by the Eversource Engineering Association.

Q:   Is the entire master’s program paid by Eversource, or just the certificate portion?

A:  Yes, the entire master’s program tuition would be paid for by Eversource, through direct bill.

Q:   Will mileage be reimbursed?

A:  Mileage will not be reimbursed.

Q:   How long does it take to complete the certificate/masters?

A:   2.5 years to complete the Graduate Certificate

An additional 2.5 years to complete the Masters degree (5 years total for both)

Q:   How flexible are the semesters in which we take the courses? Are we allowed to take a semester off if needed or are the course dates concrete?

A:   Students who join this cohort-based program are committing to participating in the exact cohort courses as outlined in this curriculum, in the delivery method prescribed for Eversource employees, and at the same cadence. If interested individuals do not believe the delivery method, timing or cadence of the courses will align with their needs or schedule, the WPI team recommends students explore other options like WPI’s Online Open Enrollment in Power Systems Programs. Please note students pursuing a non-cohort-based approach through WPI would likely utilize Eversource’s traditional reimbursement policy.
