The strategic plan for the Hawai’i Project Center outlines a roadmap for its continued success in addressing Hawai’i’s environmental and social challenges while advancing WPI’s educational goals. A well-structured plan will guide the center’s growth, build collaboration opportunities, and help allow its future projects to continue addressing the environmental and social challenges that Hawai’i faces. Additionally, a more formal approach will strengthen the center’s positioning regarding fund-raising, developing partnerships locally and internationally, and its close association with WPI alumni, among other external supporters.

Developed through interviews, surveys, and document analysis, the strategic plan includes a mission statement, actionable goals, expected outcomes, success metrics, and a future vision. Supporting materials, such as a news article and detailed contact lists of local organizations and alumni, support the plan. These deliverables provide research-based recommendations to support the center’s development and growth, promoting its long-term impact and sustainability.

The Hawai’i Project Center (HPC) was created to make a significant impact through its various projects and has achieved notable success in addressing the local community’s concerns in Hawai’i. The 10-year strategic plan we developed has the potential to be instrumental in guiding and facilitating the center’s growth. This can be done by enhancing and expanding collaborations, following the set milestones and benchmarks, and engaging alumni and other stakeholders to promote the center’s outreach and sustainability. We hope the HPC becomes an invaluable hands-on learning experience while fostering impactful partnerships within the local community. Personally, we believe that the HPC provides students with this kind of experience through our own time in Hawai’i. We were given the opportunity to live and work in one of the world’s most beautiful and culturally significant places, making this an experience we will carry with us forever.
