Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba, as a synthesis of his martial studies, philosophy and religious beliefs. Ueshiba’s goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attackers from injury.

Jiu-Jitsu is the mother of all grappling arts. It is as simple as that. Originally, it started off as a lethal system to keep the samurai alive in unarmed combat. Today, Japanese JiuJitsu, in most gyms, is in a traditional form of martial arts practice. Although one different from the military version.

Karate is a martial art developed in the Ryukyu Kingdom. It developed from the indigenous Ryukyuan martial arts (called te (手), “hand”) under the influence of Kung Fu, particularly Fujian White Crane.

Kendo is a modern Japanese martial art, descended from swordsmanship, that uses bamboo swords as well as protective armor. Today, it is widely practiced within Japan and has spread to many other nations across the world.

Kyudo is the Japanese martial art of archery. Kyūdō is based on kyūjutsu (“art of archery”), which originated with the samurai class of feudal Japan. Kyūdō is practised by thousands of people worldwide.

Samurai were the hereditary military nobility and officer caste of medieval and early-modern Japan from the 12th century to their abolition in the 1870s. Nowadays, it is referred to as a collection of Japanese traditional martial arts including archery, fencing, horse riding, etc.
