On Friday, April 8, at 3 p.m. in Gordon Library’s Gladwin Gallery (Ground Floor), there will be a rollout celebration for Project Boz – Gordon Library’s online collection of Dickens’s serialized novels. For over two years, Gordon Library has been digitizing these early Dickens novels which are part of the Library’s Fellman Dickens Collection. The goal has been to provide a digital collection of the serialized novels in a format that reproduces the works in realistic color. Viewers will see not just the black and white text of the novels, but will almost get the feeling of touching the originals, including advertisements and illustrations. The project was funded by a Library Services and Technology Act grant administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. To make it an all-Dickens afternoon, visitors are invited to attend the Dickens Fellowship Programs which follows at 3:45 in the Gordon Conference Room. Refreshments Dickens himself would have enjoyed will be served.
