It’s Open Access Week: Are You Publishing in Open Access Journals?

Posted in In and Around the Library

Get Involved with Open Access

Open Access Week is a  global event in its 5th year promoting Open Access as a new norm in scholarship and research. As you may know, there’s expansive growth of open access initiatives. The Directory of Open Access Journals now lists over 7,000 titles.

WPI librarians have pulled together a resource guide for faculty and graduate students on open access publishing. Learn more about open access publishing as well as retaining author’s rights.

Sherpa/Romeo is a site which will help authors “find a summary of permissions that are normally given as part of each publisher’s copyright transfer agreement.”  [i.e. self archiving policies]. Search by a specific journal title or publishers to find out if you can post copies of papers on your professional web site or other types of re-use.

Librarians would love to hear from you about open access publishing. Stop by or call to discuss your ideas and experiences, or leave a comment below.

Also, consider attending the workshop offered next week:

Reconstruction of Library Patio

Posted in In and Around the Library

During the October break work began on the reconstruction of the patio and front stairs at the entrance to Gordon Library. The existing patio and stairs were removed, and replacement granite pavers will be installed. Temporary walkways have been created to allow safe passage into and out of the building. While the work is going on the library’s outside book return container has been moved temporarily along the sidewalk between the library and Fuller Laboratories. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
