Come see highlights of Gordon Library’s Fellman Dickens Collection on Thursday, September 20, 4:30-6:30 p.m., at a reception in the Gladwin Gallery on the Ground Floor. The exhibition features original Dickens’s novels in part and serial format, illustrations from Dickens’s works, and materials from the collection on some of Dickens’s favorite subjects. The collection was donated to WPI in 1995 by Robert D. Fellman, a California chemistry professor and avid Dickens lover. In addition to first editions, it contains original autographed Dickens letters, over 500 books by and about Dickens, illustrations and art objects. The reception will include a talk by HUA Department Head Kris Boudreau, “A Pretty New England Town” : Dickens in Worcester, at 5:30. The event is part of a Dickens weekend in the Blackstone Valley, featuring a dramatic reading of A Christmas Carol by Gerald Dickens at Mechanics Hall.
