Blind Date with a Book

Posted in In and Around the Library

Looking for a date for Valentine’s Day? Check out the Blind Date with a Book display near the entrance to the library. We have a selection of books and movies wrapped up just for you. Read the clues on the wrapping paper and find a description that appeals to you. Bring your mystery book or movie to the circulation desk to check it out, and then unwrap it to see who your “date” is! If things don’t work out between you and your date, just return it and try again!

New in the Archives: The papers of Suzanne Richardson Harvey, Ph.D.

Posted in In and Around the Library

Gordon Library’s Curation, Preservation, and Archives recently acquired the personal and professional papers of poet, scholar, and educator Suzanne Richardson Harvey, Ph.D.

The collection includes professional papers, personal and professional correspondence, audiovisual materials, materials documenting poetry events, photographs, scrapbooks, poetry manuscripts, and published volumes of Suzanne Harvey’s poetry, in addition to biographical materials and ephemera. Dr. Harvey was an instructor and tutor in WPI’s Writing Center in 1997 while her husband, Robert J. Harvey, WPI 1970 (Ph.D), an inventor and businessman, served as entrepreneur-in-residence at the university.

Robert J. Harvey’s personal and professional papers documenting the founding of his companies, Miralin and Thoratec, are also help by the Archives.  Both collections were given to WPI by Brian Harvey in memory of his parents.

Guides for both collections can be accessed online at
