Winner of Book Drive!

Posted in In and Around the Library

For the past 2 months, Gordon Library has been collecting children’s books in partnership with the “Worcester: the City that Reads” program. Books for the pre-kindergarten through 8th grade level are collected each spring and distributed to children in all of the Worcester schools and to all summer school programs. This program aspires to promote literacy and “to put books into the hands of many… children who may not have books or a very few in their homes.”

This year WPI community members donated 453 books. Anyone who donated 5+ books was entered into a raffle to win a Kindle Paperwhite, generously donated by the Student Activities Department. This year’s winner is Renata Konrad from the School of Business. Congratulations to Renata and many thanks to everyone who donated to this very worthy cause!

Food for Fines continues!

Posted in In and Around the Library

At the end of B term, over 100 pounds of food (donated in lieu of library overdue fines) was delivered to a local food bank! The library will continue to take donations until the end of D term. Help us make a difference in someone’s life!

Donation of one non-perishable food item = up to $5.00 in fines forgiven!

Just a few simple guidelines:
• No glass containers
• No open packages
• No repackaged food
• No expired food
• Only fines for current overdue items apply. This does not apply to replacement fees for lost items or damaged materials (or future fines:))

If you have any questions, please contact accessservices@wpi.edu or call X5410 or stop by the Library Information Desk. We are happy to talk to you! Let’s fill as many boxes of food as possible! Feel free to donate even if you don’t have fines!

Food for Fines at Gordon Library!

Would you like to help provide food to the hungry?

Would you like any current fines for overdue library items forgiven?

Consider donating a non-perishable food item in place of paying for fines!

Each item donated will be the equivalent of $5.00 in fines!

Just a few simple guidelines:

  • No glass containers
  • No open packages
  • No repackaged food
  • No expired food
  • Only fines for current overdue items apply. This does not apply to replacement fees for lost items or damaged materials (or future fines:))

What will we do with the food?   We will donate it to a local food pantry just prior to Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you have any questions, please contact accessservices@wpi.edu or call X5410 or stop by the Library Information Desk. We are happy to talk to you!
