Poverty Stoplight is being used by different NGOs in many countries to understand individual aspects of poverty for each family. It can also be used for social workers to understand the needs of the families they are working with and to motivate them to overcome those needs. Please take a look at the What is Poverty Stoplight page to have a better understanding of the tool, before moving on with the information here. A group of WPI students, with the help of Armenian NGOs Orran, IDeA Foundation, and Fund for Armenian Relief, has adapted the survey to make sure it accurately reflects poverty in Armenia.
It is possible to have a printed version of the indicators and a life map for families, which they can fill out with colorful pencils. The survey questions can be further simplified by excluding indicators if you want to want to focus on a certain aspect of a family’s poverty. After taking the survey, families decide which aspects of their poverty are most important to them and set goals on how to solve these issues. The survey can also be filled in with a printed version, which the family can take home with them. Please find the indicators, the life map, and the post-survey questions materials in the Printables page. For further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
You can use the Poverty Stoplight application to give the survey to the families by downloading the app or the web version. To gain a better understanding of the tool, you can take a look at the survey in a demo environment, the details of which are explained in the How to take/administer the survey page. If you are a social worker and are interested in adopting the Poverty Stoplight survey and want to use the platform(web or mobile version) to administer it, please contact us or World Vision Armenia for further details about the application.
The Poverty Stoplight platform comes with various data analysis tools, the details of which can be found in the video below.
