Abstract

Art and culture are two essential forces that unite communities. Community-led organizations, such as Paseo 13 –a Puerto Rican artist collective– play an important role in shaping the local culture by creating projects and festivals from recycled materials that address community needs and foster social connections. However, these organizations frequently face challenges in maintaining a permanent space due to government neglect and gentrification. This project aims to create a comprehensive multimedia portfolio of Paseo 13 that captures their narrative, documents their projects and achievements, and showcases their impact on the urban community of Río Piedras, San Juan. The portfolio enables Paseo 13 to demonstrate the significance of their contributions, which can strengthen their position when seeking a suitable working space and external funding. Through collaboration with Paseo 13 and other non-profit organizations, we assisted Paseo 13 in advancing their narrative and increasing awareness of their impact to a broader audience.
