About me:
Maria Chinyerem Onyekanne Euphemia (IHM) is a roman Catholic nun of the institute of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ, (IHM) Nigeria. She is a research scientist currently undergoing her Ph.D. at African University of Science and Technology Abuja in the department of Material Science and Engineering, which is being funded by the Pan African Material research Institute (PAMI). Over the past several years, her educational aspirations have aimed squarely in the teaching of sciences and to making contributions on solutions for many of the problems that human race is facing with regards to drugs for treatments. In view of this, it has led to her obtaining diploma in education on basic sciences precisely Chemistry and Biology and Bachelor of Science in Pure chemistry in the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. On the other hand, Chinyerem has an interest in the Materials for biomedical applications and her carrier vision is to make a positive impact towards the development of innovational technologies to solve global scientific challenges. To contribute in solving these challenges led her to the study of Material Science and Engineering as a biomedical scientist in African University of Science and Technology. Material Science and Engineering being a new emerging interdisciplinary subject that encompasses many fields like materials for health, for energy and for multifunctional purposes. Her MSc. thesis focuses on the fabrication of implantable resorbable and non-resorbable magnetite nanocomposite for localized drug delivery and hyperthermia in breast cancer treatment which was funded by the Pan African Material research Institute (PAMI) and African capacity building fund (ACBF).
