The research on multifunctional materials includes the development of: robust additive manufacturing techniques for the processing and fabrication of thermo-structural materials and structures at multiple scales; micro- and nano-porous structures for water and air purification; sustainable building materials and structures that are inspired by nature. In each of the above areas, our research group is engaged in collaborative research, education and outreach that focuses on the development of purpose-driven solutions. We also work closely with collaborators in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.
