About me:
Teaching science based subjects give me joy and I have been engaged in it for a decade. I enjoy experimental research coupled with computation. My dream is to be a material scientist that will artfully engineer the available materials to address human needs. I would also like to involve programming in as many aspects of materials science research as I can and as much as possible support the education of the less privileged in Nigeria.
Education:
- Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna, Nigeria (B.Eng. Metallurgical and Materials Engineering) 2009
- African University of Science and Technology Abuja, Nigeria, (M.Sc. Materials Science and Engineering) 2014
- African University of Science and Technology Abuja, Nigeria, (PhD in view, Materials Science and Engineering)
Research:
My Research has been focused on the synthesis of nano biomaterials and its application as drug delivery cargo to deliver drugs to targeted diseased (cancerous) human body parts. Hence, providing a better alternative to chemotherapy. I have been involved in the chemical synthesis, functionalization and characterization of mesoporous silica based nano materials such as Santa Barbara Amorphous No. 15 and mobile composition of matter No. 41 with the aim of determining its drug delivery properties and the kinetics of the drug loading and release. The synthesized mesoporous silica nano particle will be conjugated with some ligands, loaded with a choice cancer drug (e.g. doxorubicin, paclitaxel, docetaxel, etc) and it will be targeted at the receptors that are overexpressed on a named cancer cell line and tumour (cervical cancer) with the aim of inhibiting the further growth of the cell and also shrinking the tumor over time.
