Prof. Bailey-Hytholt awarded American Institute for Chemical Engineers (AIChE) 35 under 35

October 2023. Prof. Bailey-Hytholt was selected for the AIChE 35 under 35 award. Bailey-Hytholt is one of six awardees in the Bioengineering category, recognized for her impactful work on developing new biomaterials and drug delivery vehicles influencing fundamental understanding and treatment strategies for reproductive health complications. AIChE has been an instrumental professional home for Bailey-Hytholt throughout each stage of her career.

September 22, 2023. Lexi Harrison presents her work “Ionizable lipid content of messenger RNA loaded lipid nanoparticles impacts delivery and gene expression in trophoblast cells” and Warren Callen presents his work “Using lipophilic dyes to examine lipid nanoparticle structure” at the New England Complex Fluids Workshop hosted by Brandeis University. They did a great job!

September 2023. PhD student Lexi Harrison will be participating in a 2-day workshop at University of Michigan in collaboration with Georgia Institute of Technology and University of California San Diego. “The NextProf Pathfinder Workshop is intended for rising 1st and 2nd year PhD students and those in a Master’s program intending to apply for a PhD program. The workshop prepares participants for a successful career in academia, and offers information on what it takes to build a competitive graduate school record to obtain a faculty position in academia/the professoriate. An ideal NextProf Pathfinder candidate will express a passion for teaching and interest in making engineering academia a more inclusive and rewarding experience for all students, and has a desire to positively influence institutional conversations about diversity.”

Examining Lipid Nanoparticle Formulation Dependence on Messenger RNA Delivery to Trophoblast Cells

Anna participated in a National Science Foundation funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. Her summer research focused on the delivery of mRNA loaded lipid nanoparticles to placental cells to help treat pregnancy-related. complications. Anna will be a senior undergraduate student at Alfred University in Fall 2023, and we wish her all the best!
