Research Opportunities
Various Opportunities will be added to this spreadsheet as we become aware of them. If you have a program you would like added, please email Kate at kharrison@wpi.edu with the information.
Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU):
- “For those students interested in participating in a research experience during the summer time, the National Science Foundation funds several Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) opportunities throughout the country. You can search for REU opportunities here: https://www.nsf.gov/crssprgm/reu/reu_search.jsp
- “For non-WPI undergraduates, the WPI BME program has a funded REU site. The WPI Bioengineering Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) is a collaboration with the National Science Foundation to bring bioengineering, research, education, and outreach experiences to 10 undergraduate students (U.S. citizens and permanent residents) from traditionally disadvantaged groups: racial and ethnic minorities, women, and students from low socioeconomic status communities. The program will run from May 30 to August 4, 2023. Please checkout our website for more information.
Summer Virtual Immersion in Biomedical Engineering (VIBE):
The Virtual Immersion in Biomedical Engineering (VIBE) program aims to provide a virtual team-based design experience for BME undergraduate students, especially women, underrepresented and first-generation students.
Undergrad Research Interest Form:
Research opportunities in BME Faculty Labs. As there are only a dozen research labs and over 500 BME undergrads, we cannot guarantee positions for everyone who fills this out, but our faculty will continue to revisit the list as positions become available – update your information at least once a year to keep it current. Make sure you list your interests and skills so faculty can find students that match their needs. We strongly advise you to visit the faculty profiles and lab websites to determine which research interests you most.
