Our team worked with The Boston Harbor Association to prepare Boston’s waterfront property for future flood risk. The project goal was to create policy recommendations for the Imagine Boston 2030 citywide project to reduce Boston’s waterfront flood vulnerability. Using a model provided by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, we developed a risk categorization by determining vulnerability of assets. We established policy recommendations for the City of Boston designed to mitigate flood risk in the Columbia Point area that could be applied to the rest of Boston. These policies were recommended to city officials as methods of achieving flood resiliency based on approaches used in other cities.
