Kimberly Giannola: I Earned an MBA at Work!

Kimberly Giannola, a Manufacturing Engineer at UTC, is in the final stretch of earning her MBA from WPI. We caught up with Kimberly as she was in the process of completing her Graduate Qualifying Project (GQP), the final course in the MBA program which allows students to apply what they have learned to real-world business problem. We asked Kimberly to share her experience with other UTC employees who may be considering an MBA program.

Here are some of her favorite things about earning her MBA through WPI:

“I decided to pursue an advanced degree immediately after getting my bachelor’s in Industrial Technology with a minor in Manufacturing. I thought it was a good way to continue the momentum I had started with my undergraduate studies. Fortunately I didn’t have to look too far as the WPI team was at a manufacturing expo I attended. They were very helpful with materials and information about the customized graduate programs available to UTC students. Because of WPI’s relationship with UTC it was easy to get started on my graduate studies right away, which was definitely a plus.”

“The best part of this experience has been what I’ve learned from my professors. They have industry experience outside of aerospace which has broadened my view of the business world, something that I’ll be able to take with me over the course of my career. Plus the convenience of attending school through WPI can’t be beat.”

“The staff in the Corporate and Professional Education division really understands the needs of working students and helps make the process of attending college while working full time as easy as it can be.”

“The quality of the instruction at WPI is top notch and I feel this experience has helped to set me apart from those who haven’t yet gone through the program.”

“The things I’ve learned and the perspective I’ve gained are applicable across many different areas of my current responsibilities. In addition, I feel I’m in a better position to be considered for future opportunities and leadership responsibilities.”
