Transportation Conversion

Executive Order 14008 Sect. 205(b)(ii) issued on January 27th, 2021, directs governmental agencies to procure “clean and zero-emission vehicles for Federal, State, local, and Tribal government fleets, including vehicles of the United States Postal Service.” The target is for 100% conversion by 2050.

Fossil fuel-powered vehicles have taken us a long way, but to confront climate change, vehicles will need to be powered by renewable electricity. This transition has many side benefits as well. Cars will be quieter, and air quality and noise pollution will both be improved. The 2021 WPI Clean Transportation team  researched the process, methods, and strategies needed to fully convert the Glacier National Park vehicle fleet to zero-emission vehicles.
