Enactus Engineering Consulting

Le Ann, Michael Zhang, Cynthia Teng, Jonathan Tai

Our team worked with an undergraduate group from Saint Louis University in the Philippines last year. We studied their project and provided advice/recommendations on how they can successfully present their project to the government and how it can be a bigger, better impact to their local community. We noticed that many college students are looking for projects and since SLU was very thrilled to work with American students, we decided to expand our project. Our goal is to connect students who want to apply their knowledge through consulting with clients who are looking for a second perspective on how to make their projects/products/service better.

BearHug Teddy Bears

Noelle Morgan

Long distance relationships of any sort can be hard on anyone. From military personnel to children, we all know the heartbreaking feeling of missing someone you love. My prototype aims to alleviate this, at least a little bit. I have designed a pair of internet-connected teddy bears that allows its users to send digital “hugs” to their loved one in the form of beautiful lights, regardless of where in the world they might be. As long as there is the internet, you can always show someone you care.

Pre-Health Preparation at WPI

Caroline Johnson, Thai Le, Mark Bray

To better prepare students for the medical profession and increase WPI’s standing among universities, we have to improve the pre-health opportunities available to students at WPI. To this end, our project aims to increase the number of preparatory materials and events available to students. This includes networking nights with current health professionals and alumni, standardized test preparatory materials, professional workshops and conferences and affiliations with Early Acceptance Programs. While long-term in scope, this project will greatly benefit WPI and lead to even greater student success.

Future of Higher Education

Cyntia Teng, Claire Long, Anqi Shen

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) currently prepares students through its pioneering Project-Based Learning (PBL) strategies that prompt students to work in teams on various projects that they are interested in, where they can apply classroom knowledge to practical applications. However, we expect to explore the possible future of WPI through rethinking the value and purpose of higher education for present and future. Therefore, we propose a regular program at WPI that invites students, alumni, faculty, and outside community members to talk about how they envision the future of WPI. This program would act as a workshop that helps the WPI executive board to further understand the needs of the stakeholders and make better administrative decisions to make WPI more competitive.
