Alumni enjoyed community building at the New York City Gathering Our Herd event in Fall 2024.

Gathering Our Heard

WPI’s Gathering Our Herd events, sponsored by the Alumni Association, bring together alumni from across the nation for fun, social occasions, and impactful connections. Developed to provide alumni with opportunities to connect with other alumni in their geographic areas, Gathering Our Herd events were hosted in 10 cities across the country during 2024 by alumni in class years ranging from 1985 to 2017.

The community I experienced at WPI was incredible. But to replicate that for alumni requires a lot of intentionality. Gathering Our Herd events are a great step in the direction.

“In addition to just being a really fun and exciting night, there’s never a downside to building community,” says Roman Gutierrez ’15, who co-hosted a Gathering Our Herd event in New York City in fall 2024. Gutierrez adds, “You never know what doors others can open for you, whether it’s an introduction that lands you your next professional role or finding someone who can join your recreation-league soccer team because another person dropped out at the last minute (this happened!).”

The Alumni Association and WPI’s Office of Lifetime Engagement offer alumni hosts help ranging from outreach and registrations to event supplies and giveaways, as well as some financial support.
