The last day of Open Education Week 2022 is a great time to look forward to more open education support and opportunities!
In Washington, members of Congress have reintroduced the Affordable College Textbook Act, a bill to expand the use and awareness of open educational resources at college and university campuses.
Congress also approved a FY22 spending package that includes $11 million in new funding for the Open Textbook Pilot grant program—a significant increase over last year and victory for the fifth year in a row. In the coming months, the WPI OER team has noted two opportunities for professional networking and learning related to open education and open pedagogy.
- First is the Northeast OER Summit, virtually sponsored by UMass Amherst (May 26-27). Watch their website for a call for proposals in March.
- Second is the 2022 Conference on Engaged Learning (June 19-20, expected to be in person at Elon University): the call for proposals has passed but you may want to keep a watch for virtual participation opportunities!
If you plan to go to either let us know! gr-oer@wpi.edu.
