Modern engineering projects increasingly demand a combination of skills from various traditional engineering disciplines. WPI’s Master of Science in Systems Engineering has been tailored for RTX employees to provide the knowledge, skills and decision-making abilities to design, manage, and lead complex projects.

WPI’s Master of Science in Systems Engineering will improve your ability to:

  • Identify what customers/stakeholders want their systems to accomplish
  • Analyze requirements, explore implementation alternatives, and design/engineer to minimize risks
  • Develop integration, verification and validation strategies to confirm systems meet users’ needs
  • Describe, design and develop hardware/software architectures for complex system functionality
  • Minimize budget and schedule risks during system design and development

Program Logistics

  • Enrollment Deadline:
    • Note: Enrollment is the first step in the application process. Once you have enrolled, WPI’s Student Enrollment Specialist will walk you through the application process.
  • Requires a minimum of 15 enrolled, qualified students
  • Fully Online in WPI’s asynchronous format
  • 4 semesters/courses a year:
    • Next Spring (March/April)
    • Summer (June)
    • Fall (end of August/September)
    • Winter (January)
  •  Each semester/course is 10 weeks long

INCOSE Knowledge Exam & WPI SYS 501*

The INCOSE Knowledge Exam is offered in-person, only. Testing opportunities may be limited by local conditions. At this time, the testing centers have limited capacity and they are still working to determine their re-opening schedule, dependent on government regulations. Taking SYS 501 (per standards/requirements – below) with WPI would ensure that you have the Knowledge Exam requirement of the certification complete without having to worry about the testing centers!

Admissions Standards/Requirements

  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Bachelors degree in computer science from a regional accredited program or engineering from an ABET accredited program. Including undergraduate coursework in advanced calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations.
  • GRE’s are not required
