Medium: Sculpture
Artist Statement:
I created these sculptures based on my two house cats. I have sculpted a number of animals (giraffes, elephants, rats, gorilla, rabbits, as well as various birds), and for all of these I aimed at making the sculpture as true to the physiology of the animal as possible. With my cats, I wanted to explore how to represent the physical form with something that approximates the full 3-D form. The cats are sculpted from stoneware, bisque fired, decorated with celadon glazes and fired to cone 6. My cats have been a happy part of each day while I’ve been home and unable to do much of my normal life.
