Theme: Identity, Agency and Optimism in a Pandemic

Artist Statement:
Walking to class one day during A-Term of my freshman year, I took a picture of The Innovation Studio. I thought the reflection of the clouds was beautiful and represented the building’s purpose of inspiring imaginative ideas/helping to transform them into reality.
Now, as I look back to this photo, I see much more. I see a snapshot of my school, a community that has shaped who I am, even through the sole three terms I have gotten to experience on campus. I see the opportunities that motivated my virtual education and my career path as a whole. I see the hope of returning to school that got me through the hardships of the past several months.
WPI is a place for students to follow their dreams. The school is overflowing with resources and people who will stop at nothing to help you thrive. I transformed this photo into a watercolor painting to emphasize this dreamy theme.
