The understanding the dynamic performance of metallurgical reactors in a highly dynamic supply chain of the circular and H₂ economy requires detailed kinetic process knowledge of bath smelting types of furnaces. This project seeks to augment extensive industrial knowhow to best position industry to be the ‘”closers” of the material chains in the circular economy and to lower our carbon footprint.

Overview

Objectives of the project include:

More detailed understanding of cleaning of slags and recovery of elements from these using H₂(+CO) for bath smelting type operations.
Using H₂ as a reducing agent to help to reduce the carbon footprint.
Quantification of data in fundamental mass transfer and kinetic parameters useful for dynamic simulation models, CFD models etc.
Physics based footprints of the system and reactors, uniquely linked to the interface and kinetic phenomena in metallurgical reactors.
