Define Climate Impact of Recycling Metal Oxides vs. Production of Metal from Virgin Raw Materials with Focus on Metals that are Mined as Sulphidic Ore or as Salts

This project aims to compare the carbon impacts of metal primary mining and the metal recycling process. The benefits of secondary metal production are widely known as environmentally and economically friendly; however, each recycling approach has different impacts on environmental and economic aspects, which need more attention. Therefore, this study will investigate the carbon impacts of current extracting methods for two selected materials (Ni and Li suggested) and also check potential methods for primary and secondary processes that can benefit from reducing greenhouse gases.
